Situated vs unsituated virtues - I agree with the broad point of this piece, that we need to focus more on the local, embodied, immediate, unmeasurable and spontaneous forms of do-gooding.
Not the most apropos, but I was delighted by this paean to deep reading. Especially agree about the virtues of reading many books at once as a way to facilitate engagement.
Good thread on how dogmatism about one’s path develops as one makes progress:
You overgeneralize because you still can’t discern the general principles that underlie all successful practices/paths, so you’re super allergic to everything that’s not your thing (and this is in large part a compassionate allergy—you want people to have the real stuff)
